The project was made in collaboration with the publishing house Od.Nowa and the main goal was to explore the possibilities of the Augmented Reality app they are developing.

To meet those requirements, alongside the ilustration a looping animation was created that would play when the user hovers over the image with their smartphone.

The illustration depicts a popular Polish fairytale called "Paweł i Gaweł". The tale tells a story about two boys living on two floors of the same house and how they would annoy each other with their respective living habits.

The illustration's purpose is to commemorate the famous 19th century Polish fairytale author Aleksander Fredro, as he will be the patron of the year 2024 in Poland.

According to differing personalities and lifestyles of both the boys depicted in the story, I designed the characters and their environments in a way that's focused on contrast. Paweł – portrayed as gentler and more orderly of the boys, I've designed using a cooler color palette, and his room is much more tidy. For Gaweł, on the other hand, more lively, warmer colors were used and his floor is littered with many more items than at Paweł's.
